This public webinar will explore the role for under-the-radar innovations in building a sustainable recovery from economic crises. What can Africa do to harness the potential of the fourth industrial revolution and how can innovations help the continent build back better? Join leading thinkers and practitioners to find out how.

‘Under-the-radar’ innovations are happening across sub-Saharan Africa, but how can can they be harnessed to innovate out of current and future economic crises? Different barriers are blocking African regions from leapfrogging the innovation gap in the era of the fourth industrial revolution.

This webinar convenes leading thinkers and practitioners from across multiple sectors to explore examples of technological and economic innovation on the continent, investigate what is needed to ‘fill the innovation gap’, and what role innovation can play in ensuring countries can economically recover from crises, such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

This webinar is supported by the Development and Economic Growth Research Programme (DEGRP), funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Hosted by ODI, register here to join on Tuesday 29th June, 2021 at 3pm BST.
